Meet Tina J. BRown

Tina Brown, a daughter of Miami The Historic Overtown to be exact; is a fiercely passionate and committed leader whose life’s mission is to empower others both personally and professionally. As Chief Executive Officer of the Overtown Youth Center (OYC Miami), Tina’s personal lived experiences have been the driving force for creating transformational solutions that bridge educational, social, health and economic gaps for children, adults and families throughout South Florida. 

Tina believes deeply in human capital and sees it as the worthiest investment one can make. Through her passion and calling to be a change agent, Tina joined OYC Miami in 2005. For five years she served as the Director of Finance, and then in 2010 was appointed by Alonzo Mourning; as the organization’s Woman-in-Chief. Now, nearly two decades later she remains committed to actively impact the narrative and to advance the socio-economic trajectory of the black and brown community. 

Tina’s savvy business acumen and dynamic leadership style has been the catalyst for establishing a dynamic workplace and culture conducive for creating efficiencies that have been integral to increasing the organizations operating revenue from $1.5 million to $7.3 million on an annual basis. During Tina’s leadership, a high demand for services began to surge; resulting in the need for a larger space to operate.  In 2017, Tina spearheaded the launch of a $20 million capital campaign to construct a 56,000 square foot facility to accommodate the growth of OYC Miami’s service population, program services, staff, and the needs of community at large.  To-date, Tina has been integral in raising $18 million of the $20M project’s goal through an aggressive and diverse fundraising strategy to include individual, foundation, and corporate giving; as well as New Market Tax Credits. During her leadership, OYC’s service population has more than tripled; offering a more robust array of educational, enrichment and exposure opportunities, as well as expanding health, wellness, civic engagement, college, vocational and workforce readiness programs to more than 5000 youth and families. 

As a proud graduate of the HBCU Savannah State University; Tina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, and a Master’s Degree in Accounting.  

While Tina is a profound leader who is known for getting results, her greatest accomplishment is the life she has built with her husband Cory and their three children, Kaige, Kaiden and Canaan Brown.
